YES!  Simply use your Dynamic DNS address in the app instead of your router IP.

What WiFi networks does the Mobile GDO support?

The Mobile GDO supports 802.11 B/G WiFi networks.

What WiFi security protocols does the mobile GDO support?

The Mobile GDO Controller supports WiFi authentication WEP-128, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA2-PSK (AES).

How long does it take to install the Mobile GDO controller?

This depends, but in most cases someone who has basic DIY skills should be able to install the Mobile GDO in an hour.

Why doesn't the Mobile GDO require a monthly service?

Some products require you to maintain a monthly service to manage your IP connection and make it available for your smart phone to communicate with network devices.  We believe that with some tools and knowledge the end user should be able to manage this connection and save themselves a monthly fee.  Monthly fees add up quickly over time, in some cases the monthly fees for other devices can add up to more than the cost of a Mobile GDO in a year!  Our philosophy is to provide you with the required tools and knowledge to manage this connection yourself and save the monthly fees.

Can I have multiple smart phones open the same garage door?

YES! All you need to do is have the same settings in each smart phone match and they can all open the same garage door.

What happens if my garage door malfunctions, or a object gets caught in the door?

The Mobile GDO does not interfere with the safety equipment installed on your garage door.  If you send a command to close the garage door and something gets in the way, the safety sensors that come with your garage door opener will still operate and stop the door from closing.

Will I still be able to use my original garage door opener?

YES!  Your original garage door opener will still function the same before and after you install the Mobile GDO.

What happens if my home network IP address changes and I don't know what it is?  Will I still be able to open my garage door?

YES!  But you will lose the ability to control your garage door anywhere in the world.  The Mobile GDO app has a built in mode you can activate that sends commands to the local IP you setup for the Mobile GDO.  This allows you to still control your garage door, as long as your smartphone is connected to your local network.

How secure is the Mobile GDO connection?

Security is very important to us.  The Mobile GDO can connect to WEP-128, WPA-PSK (TKIP), WPA2-PSK (AES) wireless networks.  Additional security is achieved by encrypting all commands sent between your Mobile GDO opener and your smart phone.  Also, the Mobile GDO uses proprietary random number handshaking for authentication over the internet and proprietary brute force attack protection.

Will installing the Mobile GDO void my garage door warrenty?

No, the Mobile GDO installs the same way as the switch used on your wall to control your garage door.  Most garage door manufacturers allow the use of 3rd party switches, so there should be no warranty issues installing the Mobile GDO.

What garage door openers does the Mobile GDO work with?

The Mobile GDO works with all garage door openers that utilize a push button switch to activate the garage door opener.  Known garage door openers that work with the Mobile GDO are: Genie, Chamberlain, Liftmaster, Sears Craftsman, Raynor, Wayne-Dalton, Access Master, etc.

NOTE: On occasion some garage door openers require a "dry contact converter" to work properly with the Mobile GDO.  Please check your garage door opener manual to determine if your opener will operate of a standard push button.  If your opener DOES work with a standard button NO converter is required.  These converters are available from your garage door manufacture or a local dealer.

Example opener that DOES require a converter is the Genie POWERMAX 1500.  It requires Genie part number 38013R - dry contact converter for connecting Intellicode2 openers.
